Bianco Mono

London Plane in a warm white binder
2.4m x 1.2m

In the early 1960s my great-grandmother moved from Cyprus to a small flat in Holland Park. The now highly desirable houses in wide, leafy terraces are frequently gutted and most details painted white.

This is a slightly tongue in cheek take on that trend, at first glance a clean and modern surface, but when you look closely it’s full of complex victorian timber.

Walnut in a grey-black binder

A homage to the dark and sophisticated interiors hidden in Soho’s private member’s clubs and bars.

It was inspired by childhood memories of times spent sitting on the bar of my father’s Soho club playing with straws or being fascinated by the dumb waiter in his restaurant off Tottenham Court Road.

While developing Foresso I travelled through Bond Street station each day, there's a classic stone terrazzo there with loud black and red chips which seem to reflect the art-deco glamour of Mayfair and the West End so well.

Looking at that terrazzo I’d be taken back to eating ice cream in Fortnum’s with my grandfather, a place that for me will forever be that combination of glitz and quiet sophistication.

Oak in a pale blue binder

When I returned to the city from art school I moved into the east end, and was there when I incorporated my company.

Influenced by the industrial spaces that become combined with modern colours and a fresh eye, I wanted to echo this with a pop of colour and chips from amazing gnarled blocks of oak.
